Sunny 8

I have a really cool post coming up later today (hint: it involves huge trees) but I just wanted to check in and tell you how my long run yesterday.
I did a fairly easy 8 miles.  The sun finally came out for the first time in over a week & made me want to stay out longer.  It’s all about the simple things, I tell ya!

Since my first mile is always super fast, I decided not to look at my pace and just go with the flow of my body.  I only looked down at my Garmin 3 times just to see my mileage.  Let’s see how I did.

1 8:09

2 8:23

3 8:15

4 8:20

5 8:32

6 8:29

7 8:31

8 8:27

Time: 1:07

Average pace per mile: 8:24

I couldn’t believe my 6 mile time was 50:08, only 2 seconds slower than my race on Saturday.  Weird.

My legs were tired & a bit sore the last half mile but other than that I’m golden.  Actually I expected to wake up sore today, but nothing.  Schweet!

I had a GU with me, but didn’t eat it.  I’ll chalk it up to a lesson learned.  I did not feel well all afternoon.  I felt like this a few times before, all after running higher mileage.  I won’t be doing that again.  It’s funny because I can run 6 miles, not take in any calories & feel great but 8 is not cool.  I guess 7’s my limit lol!?  There’s only one way to find out & isn’t the easy way.

Do you know your limits?  How often do you need to take in calories?
