Ain’t no shame in walking

So last night I got up in the middle of the night and when I stood up I felt a pop in my right arch.  Then throbbing pain set in.  The plantar facsiitis punk came back.  Dang.

I went back to bed and it eventually stopped hurting completely. 

Woke up feeling back to normal, actually I forgot it happened.  Well, until I started running on the trail a few hours later.

It didn’t hurt per se, it was just there.  If that makes any sense.  So my 5 mile run turned into a 2 and a half mile run.  I walked the rest of the way back to my car.  Why is this so dang hard?  Ha!  I could have totally pushed through it, but knew it wasn’t worth it.

At first I was pretty bummed, then I started putting things in perspective.  I’m still not 100%, I’m slowly increasing my mileage, therefore stressing the PF & tendons more and it will heal.  Sometimes I surprise myself with my smartness.

I felt much better as I talked myself into taking it easy now and not paying for it later.  But, only I would injure myself simply stepping out of bed.  Ha!

It’s cool, I’ll bounce back again!

I took the rest of the day pretty easy.  I dropped off our ballots and did a quick trip to Trader Joe’s.

Check out this little house.  I admire it all the time while I’m walking Bam.  I don’t know what style it is, but I think it is so adorable.

  1. Probably a good idea taking it easy on the run!! Just to make sure you don’t make anything worse!

    I’ve been lucky that I haven’t had any major injuries!

  2. I had my plantar faschitis come back recently because I switched to a 4mm shoe. I wear a brace at night that helps speed the recovery. I have major foot issues. I also have titatium screw holding my right foot together.

    I’ve had runner’s knee on and off for years. So hang in there, injuries happen to the best of us!

  4. That is is super cute! Had to LOL at Rosanne Barr. I have shin splints and runners knee to battle from time to time, the smart things is what you did, not to push it. Hope your PF eases off soon.
