Later this morning we headed to grandma Lucille’s house to hang out.
When I called her to tell her we were on our way to visit her, she said “I’m making biscuits & gravy.” I said cool, make extra because we’re on our way to come see you!
Cooking a meal for people is one of grandma’s favorite things to do and when she puts a plate like this in front of you, you eat it!
Her famous fried potato’s, bacon, eggs & homemade biscuits. The only gravy I like is her turkey gravy at Thanksgiving, so I put butter & jam on mine.
Coffee on the side. I swear I get my love of coffee from her & my ma.
One of my favorite views. It makes my heart so happy. <3
My parents got grandma a laptop for Christmas and The Virginian is her favorite show, so Mike put the first 2 seasons of it on her laptop & taught her how to access it. She is so sharp, she picked it up in no time!
I don’t remember the last time I saw her this excited!! We’re in business of making grandma happy.
She even let me wash my stinky, bloody workout clothes while there.
On the way home I stopped by my favorite nail salon for a pedicure & brow wax. I’m happy to report I no longer look like a cavewoman.
I supported this local family owned salon since they opened a few years ago. Nancy has always been my favorite for pedicures. She made me feel good when she was happy to see me and as usual, did not disappoint!
I was sad to hear they lost 3 family members in to a car accident a few days after Thanksgiving. I knew 2 of them from when I used to stop in regularly. They were sweet, hard working folks who were always warm & welcoming to everyone who walked into Fashion Nail & Spa in Dinuba. My heart goes out to their family. <3

Reader Jenny contacted me about interviewing marathoners and I couldn’t think of anyone, but thought you guys might be able to help her out.
“My name is Jenny Lendrum and I am a graduate student at Wayne State University. I am currently working on my Master’s Thesis, “Running Bodies: Black & White Female Marathoners”. I am interested in understanding and exploring the difference between Black and White women who marathon, the motivations of these women and how marathoning affects the lives of these women.
I am searching for African American women to interview for this project. The interview may last 35-45 minutes, it will be audio recorded and participating is completely voluntary and anonymous. We can meet at a time and place that is convenient for you; alternately, a phone interview would work well.
If you are willing to participate or if you have any questions please contact me by email at ag9734@wayne.edu or by phone at 734-474-2281.
I would really appreciate your help with this research. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jenny Lendrum
Wayne State University”

My father in-law is going to take Mike out to dinner (I already ate), so my BF Ronda is going to come harass me in a bit.
Have a good night!!
When was the last time you made someone happy? What did you do?
When you think of a home cooked meal, what comes to mind?
The meal I had today along with my mother in-laws fried chicken. It’s the only time I will eat chicken off the bone.

I would recommend she contact the ladies at Black Girls Run! http://www.blackgirlsrun.com/
Great idea!
