Lunch with a new friend & odd things people do

I don’t know what I did to deserve 2 awesome runs in a row, but I’ll take it.  There’s something about the warm sunshine that makes it so much easier to get outside and enjoy it.

I’m still taking it easy this week but I’m hoping to bump up the mileage next week.

I met the adorable Lauren for lunch at Gyro’s House in downtown Mountain View.  Since I think buying pre cooked chicken and tossing it on top of romaine is gourmet, I let her pick the restaurant.

She doesn’t know this yet, but she is now in charge of picking every restaurant from now on because this placed rocked!  It has already been written in the book of Jacqueline.

I already know we are going to be good friends because she likes to talk about blogs, running, cupcakes and hockey as much as I do.  Oh and the funny thing is we live less than a half a mile from each other and didn’t even know it.  How cool is that!?

Unlike me, Lauren is a normal, cool person with a real job and needed to get back.  I pretended I had one and walked to Starbucks.  (Pic from yesterday)

Let’s talk about odd things people do.  I always get a kick out of hearing crazy stories and thought you might too.  Here are a *few* we’ve experienced with our neighbors the last few months.

We live in a condo and approximately 99% of our neighbors are just….really…odd.

Mike & I feel like we’re screw’s in a box full of nails here.  It’s actually quite comical.

  • Last weekend while I was out with Bam in the community backyard, I saw a lady spraying down her upstairs balcony with Windex and using paper towels to wipe the floor down.  The.entire.thing.  Um, it’s called a mop!?
  • They let their cat’s run free and call an HOA board meeting because Bam *gasp* chased one.
  • Last week one of our neighbors told Mike that someone’s been letting the air out of the same tire on her car every other day since October.  It didn’t occur to her there could just be a problem with the tire.
  • We have funny names we came up with to identify said neighbors and one of them is “Nature Girl.”  I gave that name to her because she wears blue long sleeve tops with men’s khaki cargo shorts and a nature-esq hat every single day.  One day she put a bag of dog poop on our front door.  When I confronted her about it, she said she did it because she “didn’t have time to talk to me about someone not cleaning up after their dogs in the community back yard.”  Funny thing is we are not the only dog owners who live here and I always do my best to pick up after Bam.

I hope you don’t take this post the wrong way.  I am in no way complaining, just laughing at how some people just don’t have anything better to do and feel the need to control everyone else.  The really funny thing is Mike & I can not be controlled.

How do you find good restaurants?

Word to mouth, Yelp and if we walk by a place that’s packed, it’s usually a sign it’s a winner.

Tell me an odd thing you saw someone do.

Who ran with me today?

  1. In SF, there are so many restaurants its hard to keep up but subscribe to newsletters like 7×7, eatersf, etc

Fun fact about Lauren is that we have a mutual friend that she went to college with and we figured it out from reading ea others blog!! Smalllll world

  2. I love finding new places to lunch, happy hour, brunch, whatevs! Usually through word of mouth. We have a few local magazines that will give reviews on places and so I make my list from that too!

  3. HAHAHAHA she seriously thought someone was letting air out of her tires?
