Let me just apologize now to my snowed in friends, but spring is definitely here!! Please don’t send hate mail.
I already busted out my flip flops, tank tops and got my first sunburn of the season. Oops.
Yesterday I took Bam for a nice long walk. We don’t walk every day, but he get’s a lot of outside time in the big community backyard. My little buddy loves to be outside as much as I do.
Then gave Mr pink skin Mc grumpy pants a bath. He was thrilled.
I also made a fresh fruit salad with watermelon, cantaloupe & grapes. Yeah, we’re really not into the whole eat local thing. I’m okay with this.
I completed day 2 3X40 hip hikes right before dinner. Working out on a full stomach is so not fun. I did 4 squat jumps and called it quits. Ha! Dang, that’s hard.
When it’s this nice outside, I have a hard time sitting still. I’m okay with this too.
All of this warm sunshiny (<-did I just make up a new word?) weather has me itching to race, so I thought I’d update you guys on my current spring race schedule.
An opportunity to run my first post injury half marathon came up and I couldn’t turn it down. I’ll be doing the San Luis Obispo half marathon on April 7th!! I’m stoked this pretty lady will be running the marathon. Plus Dean Karnazes will be running it too. It’s pretty much going to be a party if I make as long as I make it to the finish line alive.
Saint Patrick’s day I’ll be rocking my lucky Pro Compression socks while running the she.is.beautiful 10K with the pretty girl. I’ve never ran this race, but I love Santa Cruz and most of the course is next to my happy place, the beach so I’m stoked to do this race!
In May I’ll be doing the California Classic Weekend 35 mile ride & run a half marathon the following day. This is one of my favorite races with an awesome course. The half marathon course takes you through the zoo! Plus I get to go home and visit friends & family. Guess it’s time I start training on my bike, uh.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have 8 miles to run this morning. Let’s hope this mad case of DOMS loosens up or I’m in for a brutal run. Oh well, there’s always promises of ice cold coffee after and we all know that makes everything better.
