Sometimes you just have to suck it up, cupcake

Um, so you guys totally rock!  Thank you for inspiring me to peel myself off the couch and out to the trail.  I was so not feeling that run, but like always I am happy I did it.

I was really happy I did when I figured out it’s my longest post injury run!!

I averaged a 9:43 pace per mile.

The last time I ran 9 miles was almost 2 years ago in the California Classic half marathon.  I got injured 3 weeks later, but we won’t go there today.

I ran along the Bay Trail and around Google again.  There are a ton of nice streets & trails to run on so I never get board.  I really need to stop running by Google around lunch time because their 20 some odd cafeteria’s smell amazing.  I thought about jacking an employee’s badge.

It might look cold, but I think it was in the mid 60’s a little humid.

This water fountain at Google saves me every time.  I thought it deserved to be featured on SCB because I’m classy like that.

As well as this dead squirrel.  Part of me wanted to tie a get well soon balloon around it’s tail, but I thought better of it. 


This run was a tough one mentally, but around the half way point, I finally snapped out of it and finished feeling pretty good.  I pushed it hard up the overpass and thought I was gonna yack when I got to the top so I stopped for a bit.  I think I was just a little dehydrated and ready to be done.

I was so hot, sweaty and hungry when I got home, that gear had to come off asap.  The aftermath…

And it turns out the coffee fairy doesn’t exist, so I had to go get it myself.  <- total first world problems.

It was so worth it! 


In completely random news, my sister met Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue in Vegas yesterday!  Mike recently got me into that show and I think it’s so cool she got to meet him!  She said he & his wife are really nice.

  1. Yay for getting out there and running. Sounds like a good run. I really need to check out the Bay Trail 🙂

    I’ve seen turkey’s, deer, and skunks to name a few on my runs. Longest I’ve done is the 1/2 for racing. Doing a 12 miler this weekend in my hood. Going to tackle some hills.

    I’ve met several members of the casts from various Star Trek series. At conventions of course. I am such a goober. lol.

  2. Yay! Congrats on your longest run post injury. My longest run has been a 13.1, never gone beyond that.

    I’ve seen frogs, snakes and tarantulas on some of my runs. Yuck! Tarantulas mate during the fall so they come out of the fields where I run by and scare the crap out of me.

    I’ve only met TV stars from afar, like at Comic-Con – Kevin Bacon, Lucy Liu, Terry O’Quinn.

    • Oh man snakes freak me out. I’m a huge wimp if I even think one is close by me.
      I’ve seen an entire road covered in tarantulas, not a fan either.
      Dang, you’ve met some really cool people. When is your next race?

  3. My longest run so far is 16 miles. Hoping to up that in the coming week. One time I saw a lady walking a GIANNTTT cat (I mean, like a medium-sized dog sized cat). It was attempting to resist said walk with all it’s might.

  5. So I am officially a fan of your blog. I started at the beginning and am now all caught up. I kind of copied how you started. My only problem now is that I love it some much I want to do it every day even if I am hurting. Your posts are very inspiring, especially the ones where you don’t feel like running, and once you do you feel fantastic. So thank you. I ran 2 miles yesterday, and could have easily ran more. I was running with a partner and it was her first time so I did not want to encourage her over doing it. Well I think that is enough. This has to be one of the longest replies EVER!!!!

    • I am so happy you love running as much as I do! It is really the best sport. Okay well I may have exaggerated there a tiny bit. Maybe. Definitely take it easy, injuries are so not fun. You’re a heck of a friend for taking it easy on your buddy. Let’s hope she sticks with it and races with ya. 🙂

  6. 13 Miles in my Half marathon! Craziest thing I have seen was a cow and bull…ahem doing it!! LOL Yes thank you KY, gotta love the country life!!!
