Suzi freaking homemaker

Top of the mornin’ to ya!  I hope your day is filled with sunshine and lollipops.

Whoa someone’s had way too much coffee.

Moving on…

So this girl decided to make a conscience effort to get back on track.  You know doing the things I would normally do like drink coffee, run and harass Mike.  But dang it felt so good.

I don’t even know why but I was still not feeling like running, but as soon as I put on my shoes, my attitude magically changed.  I guess sometimes you just need to just do it.  I did 3.25 miles and it was pure bliss.

Then came home and did a little strength training.  I never do that right after a run, but I was already dressed & sweaty so why not.  I know, this is groundbreaking news.

Somehow I talked Mike into making lunch.  Why does food tastes a million times better when someone else makes it?  He made scrambled eggs with fresh spinach, and cheddar.  His secret to fluffy eggs is to add a splash of milk and not over cook them.  Basically the opposite of what I do.

Well it’s Wednesday and the gardeners come and we all know this furry cracker can’t be trusted, so I took him to his favorite park. 

If he could talk he’d say something like ha ha sucka!  You have to take me to have fun because I chew the door.

Odd story, Bam is in his element out here.  He runs around like a crazy man off leash, chases squirrels, digs for gophers, you know the usual.  He listens really well and usually stays close by. 

We were approaching a little intersection on this trail. Bam ran ahead of me and sat at my feet to block me from going the direction we were headed. This was odd behavior since he always runs around exploring. I took a step to the right to test him, he moved in front of me, sat looked back at me then stared down the trail. So I turned left & started walking and as soon as he was sure we were going that way he ran around like normal. I wonder what was down there?

I sure am thankful for my little buddy who watches out for me even when I don’t know what he senses.

Anyway Bam was rewarded with lots of love and cold water when we got back to the car. 

Since it was nice out, I decided to get a pedicure on the way home.  I parked in the shade, rolled down the windows half way and gave Bam some water.

I changed the color up and went with purple.  I like the change, but I am sure I will miss my obnoxious neon pink in a week.

Mike asked me a couple times why I don’t bake and I seriously don’t have a good answer for that boy.  So I made one of his favorite dishes, chicken & rice with cream of mushroom.  It doesn’t look good, but he loved it.

Then I got all Suzi freaking homemaker and whipped up a batch of blueberry scones.  I don’t even know who I am any more.

  1. I love your blog. I look forward to reading it everyday. Any advice on step parenting. It seems like you and lulu get along very well. I wish I had that relationship with my step daughter. Have a great day and keep the great posts coming.

      Honestly I’m not the best person to ask, I think we get along so well for a couple reasons…I’ve been in her life since she was 3 and she has the sweetest, most giving heart and always wants to please so we’ve never had a major problem. I think it would be harder if I came into her life later on. Man this is a toughie.

  3. I just threw together a loaf of grain-free pumpkin banana bread..and then I realized it contained the same ingredients as the treats I make for the dogs…so I shared.

      • i usually play around with the ingredients, depending on what I have laying around, but the basic recipe is
        2 1/2 c flour (i used almond)
        1/2 c pumpkin
        1/2 c pb (i used a mashed banana today)
        2 t cinnamon
        1 t baking powder
        1/2 c water (i used almond milk)

        350 for 20 min
        since I was intending to make the bread for myself, there was also 2 eggs in the mix.

    • Girl, I would lay money you guys cook more than I do! Plus you are probably overlooking my talent of burning water. 😉

  4. Look at you Suzi! I like to bake, but I have never tried making scones. I should sometime. My girls and I all love them.

  5. I’ve been strength training a lot more because I’m finding the benefits are really great. I always do it after my run. I like to use the Nike training club app.

    I love baking but I always eat all the goodies because I’m home all day so I try not to donut too often lol

  6. I strength train at least twice a week, and I try to do push-ups and planks every day.

    The last thing I baked was my famous cream cheese bread, which tastes like a danish, and it’s insanely delicious. It’s about the only think I bake! I don’t like cookies or cake, and I haven’t had a reason to make a pie lately. I do want to make some sausage cheddar scones one of these days. Your scones look oh-so-tasty!
