Living in the moment & blog link up

Rise & shine friends!

Y’all know it’s been crazy busy over here.  Good thing I love crazy busy!

I spent the entire day scrubbing baseboards, cleaning the oven and a gazillion other things I can’t remember.  Packing the kitchen and swiping 3 coats of bright white paint on the kitchen ledge.  It sill needs another coat or two, but I’ll get to that later.  One thing I kept thinking about, (besides my ever growing to do list) is how I’d like to focus on living in the moment.  Why in the heck is this so hard?  Ha!

I’m always thinking ahead, planning and anticipating stuff that might come up.  It’s that dang Type A in me, but I’d really like to focus on living one day at a time and enjoy it.  Anyone else have that problem?

When this pretty girl posted this on Instagram last night, it was definitely perfect timing.

Sometimes the only thing you can change is your prospective.

I’m going to keep this in my back pocket as a reminder to live life each day.  And while I’m ninja kicking my to do list, I am going to enjoy it, dang it!

I tend to skip workouts when things get super busy, and usually end up wishing I didn’t, so I’m going to focus on keeping things as normal as possible.  Even if it means I only have time to do the #sittogetfit challenge.

Enough about me, I want to know more about you!  Since I have quite a few new readers (hello!) let’s do another round of blog link ups.

Tell us how cool you are and if you’re a runner your favorite distance and why.  Be sure to link to your blog in the comments section.  If you don’t have a blog, feel free to link to your social media account.

How do you live in the moment and enjoy each day when things are crazy?

Are you a morning person?

100% yes!

What time do you usually go to bed?

Lately my bedtime has been all over the place, between 9:30 & 11:00.

  1. Did my planking too this morning! Nice work! Wish I was type A sometimes (I am with my workouts) BUT as far as chores go…I would probably get more done around the house. Love that quote too!!

  2. I’m a new reader, so I’d love to introduce myself! I’ve been blogging for not very long at ruralrunningredhead.com. My favorite distance is the marathon (training for #6 right now). And I’m too cool to even explain in this little comment space. 🙂 Actually, I’m a huge nerd but I’m okay with it. I am very much a morning person, and I go to bed like an old lady between 9 and 10.

  3. i don’t like unplanned “suprises”, not sure if that’s a type A thing or not. but i’m a birth order guy, so being the first born/oldest, i gotta do things my way and try to control the moment and not let the moment control me 🙂

running you say? just started this month, still got a long way to go. and thanks for answering my questions Jacqueline!

  4. I am about as cool as a camel in the Sahara.
I love to run and my favourite distance is whatever my long run is going to be…which is around 20 miles these days as I am training for my first marathon.
When things get crazy I like to grab a coffee (or an adult beverage depending on the time of day) and let life slow back down a bit.
Yes, I am definitely a morning person…it’s the only quiet time of the day.
Bedtime is usually around 11:00 if I can last that long.
I blog with my wife and one of our best friends over at 3cheaprunners.com

  5. I am SUUUUPER type A, so living in the moment is rather hard. However, my two dogs keep me grounded and somehow I always make time just to enjoy their presence 🙂

I’m 100% a morning person, which is so weird. Growing up, I was homicidal until about noon. Go figure.

Check out my blog where I share a lot about my dogs, endometriosis, and I’m about to start training for my very first half marathon!!!

  6. I’m so Type A and really wish I could just chill out sometimes!!! I’ve recently started meditating to force myself to slow down and live in the moment….I feel your pain

My favorite distance is the marathon because I am nuts and love planning for it. If that doesn’t tell you just how cool I am….. 🙂

    I don’t have a blog, but I love my instagram! Runforlife22

  7. I am SUUUUUPER Type A, so living in the moment is rather difficult. However, my two dogs keep me grounded, and I somehow always find the time to just enjoy their presence.

I am 100% a morning person, which is strange. Growing up, I was homicidal before noon. Go figure.

Follow my journey on my blog; I share a lot about my dogs, endometriosis, and I will begin training for my first half marathon next month!

  8. I’m pretty much a morning person, but I still like to sleep in sometimes. I would much rather work out in the morning than in the evening… especially long runs.

LOVE that quote. I saved it on my computer and will definitely be using it for future inspiration.

My favorite distance is the 10K. I loved my half marathon and hope to do a few more in my life, but running 6.2 miles is just a great distance I think.

  9. I’m extremely cool but for too many reasons to list. My favorite distance is 5 miles because it’s short enough to push my pace but long enough to still be challenging.
I can be a morning person but only when I get to bed early enough… Today I got up at 6:30 so that’s kinda a victory.

  10. I’m one of the coolest people I know, even though I struggle with living in the moment too. But, this is a stressful time for you, lady, so cut yourself some slack!

My blog is The Rogue Runner, and you all should come check it out. Even though I won’t be doing any running for a few weeks since I broke my foot. BUT you can also follow me on instagram, my favorite/most active social media outlet, to see all the cool OTHER things I’m up to. Since I’m so cool and have such an awesome life. Hit me up, yo. @theroguerunner

I gotta say, @skinnychickblog is one of my favorite people on the gram, too, cause she posts cool photos of her dog and is all sassy and stuff, like me. And obviously read her blog, but you’re already here, so you do.

  11. You already know my randomness over at olivetorun.com because we are long lost sisters.

How do you live in the moment and enjoy each day when things are crazy? My students do a great job helping me keep myself in check with this.
Are you a morning person? YES! I am up around 5 to run every day… weekends by 6:30- it’s just natural baby 😉
What time do you usually go to bed? I’m super super cool and am in bed by 9.

  12. I’m all about the random! It’s just the way my mind works. I am constantly thinking of dozens of things all at the same time.

Morning person most of the time. As long as I don’t do something too crazy that causes me to stay up late. I try to be in bed by 10:30 PM at the latest, but that doesn’t always happen.

I blog at WhineLessBreatheMore.com. Have you heard of it? 😉

  13. I’m a total wannabe runner, but plan on being a REAL runner one day.
Usually I am a morning person, but only after a cup or 2 of coffee. I have been staying up late since I am on vacation, but next week it’s back to being a granny an going to bed by 9pm.
I blog over at OrganicallyMo.com where I talk about food, fitness & FUN!!!!

  14. My favorite distance is the marathon and I’m hoping to get #10 in this fall! I am a newlywed (May 31, 2013!). Things have definitely been crazy with planning our small destination wedding and our celebration for friends and family that is THIS weekend. Trying to stick to my work out routine has been hard, but essential to my sanity!

  15. I’m totally type A!
I get up early (anywhere from 4:30 – 5:30) and try to always be in bed by 10:00.
I love that quote that your friend had – so very true!!

  16. cool- not really. But lover of running and exercising, definitely.

I think my favorite distance is half-marathon, but oddly enough after 5 full marathons I am starting to love that distance too.

I’m not a morning person, but I am working on it (lots of coffee).

Bedtime is anywhere from 10-1 (hence the reason I am a crappy morning person). Again, trying to work on it!

  17. I’m not cool at all. NERD LIFE!!

I love love to race but my current fav race distance in the half marathon.

Here is my Blog :Sparklespandex.com Check it out yo!

I am not a morning person at all!!! I could sleep till noon if the world would let me.

I try to go to bed at 10 but it’s more like 12. Thank goodness for COFFEE!!!

  18. I love that quote – I needed it this morning! I am a morning person but I’ve been finding it hard to get up. Between training and work, it’s getting tough to be the early bird.

I’m usually in bed by 10. I wake up early, 6am is sleeping in for me.

    My blog’s address is http://www.runningforbostonmass.com

  19. Love that quote… I might have to regram it on Instagram (@carsonista).

My favorite running distance is the half marathon. This is because it is the farthest distance I have ran so far and I love to push myself beyond what I think I could do. Maybe one day, I will run a full and fall in love with it,too.

I am a morning person, but oddly, do not like to run until the evenings or at night. Running in the morning is torture for me. I like to go to bed by 10 or 10:30. Maybe a little earlier the night before I have to work, because I wake up around 5:15am to get there by 6:30, and no one like to be around me when I am short on sleep 🙂

    I blog at http://www.thestoryofcarsonandalec.blogspot.com

  20. I am a student at the University of Michigan but originally from Los Angeles and I love running both in Ann Arbor and LA! Unlike most people my age, I love waking up early in the morning and going on the run while I watch the sun rise. I fell in love with running a year ago and just completed my first half marathon. I am officially hooked on long distance running! I am running my second half marathon in October (Long Beach International) and planning on running my first full marathon sometime next year 🙂 As an aspiring nurse, I love learning the anatomy/physiology and nutrition involved in running too.

I think my favorite distance right now are my long runs (anywhere between 8-12 miles). I love being able to go easy and really enjoy the run!

  21. I suffer from not living in the moment, too. I am too concerned with “where do I need to be?” or “what do I need to do?”. Thanks for the reminder to slow down.

I prefer getting up early, and going to bed early. But my husband and I just started watching Orange Is The New Black on Netflix, and now our early bedtime is doomed!

    Check my blog @ http://www.runningfabulous.wordpress.com

    See you there!

  22. Living in the moment is really hard for me too. I’m constantly thinking ahead, worrying, and seeing what could go wrong instead of what could go right! It’s something I’ve been trying to change bc with that kind of hesitation you’re just constantly setting yourself up for failure!

  23. I too am a Type A personality….I wonder if it goes hand and hand with being a runner. I really do like to have a planned schedule ahead of me.

I started running 4 years ago and am training for my first 1/2 marathon. I think I’ll stick to 10ks after this as I feel they are just long enough to push you and feel like you’ve had a good workout.

Definitely a morning person which means I’m in bed between 9-10pm.

  24. Hey girl hey! I found your blog when you guest posted on SR about injuries and I can totes relate (fab post!). I’m nursing a stress fracture and trying not to let the suckiness of not running spoil – everything.

I guess my favorite distance is half marathon, but if it involves running, I’m game. My blog, Year: Twenty Nine chronicles my life as a runner, coffee addict, dog mama, and OCD tyrant. (http://yeartwenty-nine.blogspot.com/) – all my other social media is listed on there 🙂

I struggle with “living in the moment”, being Type A it is always hard for me not to plan everything. But I did read “The Magic” awhile ago and try to make a conscious effort to find gratitude in each day.

I’m a morning person if I can chose my wake up time. Otherwise, I need coffee and a shower first to make coherent sentences.

As of late my bedtime is sometime between 9:30-11, though I’d love for it to be earlier so I could workout in the am.

  25. Today is a rest day. I love running early morning on the trails behind my house. And early evening since the sunsets are awesome.

  26. I’m a huge dork, and definitely not afraid to admit it! My favorite race distances are 10K (I’ve done two, and not walked a foot! Very proud of that one) and half marathon (I’ve done four, and my PR is 2:22:something).

  27. I’m kind of a new runner so my longest distance is around 5 miles so I guess that’s my favorite length. For now anyways!

I don’t have a blog at the moment. Well, I blog at sparkpeople but you have to be a member to comment so I’m thinking about starting a blog somewhere else since I love to stalk so many. 🙂

  28. I wish I was a morning person! I love running before work but I’m still getting used to waking up earlier :p I don’t know how some of you guys do it! 5am!? I think my favourite distance is the half marathon, as it’s a real challenge but I can just about run it comfortably 🙂 Hoping for a full next year!
