The P word

Hey there!  How’s you week going?

Things are going well over here.  Super busy but all good stuff so no complaints.

Does anyone else feel like pumpkin has taken over the universe?

Okay please don’t send hate mail for saying this, but I am not a fan of pumpkin flavored foods.  I really wish I were.  I really do.  It seems like the cool thing right now.  Guess I’ll have to start my own kool kids klub.

I’m not hating on it-I like a slice of my grandma’s pumpkin pie at Thanksgiving and my mom’s pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting, but other than that I could live without it.  Now coffee…we all know that’s a completely different story.

But I know a lot of you guys love it and to be honest I love seeing it out in stores.  It’s actually kind of comforting.  Is that weird?  Anyway pumpkin lover friends this post is for you!  And don’t you worry, non P word lovers like myself, there are a couple non pumpkin recommendations from yours truly.

While shopping at Trader Joe’s the other day, I couldn’t help but see the color orange and pumpkin every isle I walked down.

I would actually like to try this Pumpkin Spice coffee, but I’m too cheap to take a gamble on a whole canister.  Maybe one day they will a sample of it.

This Pumpkin Butter seems to be really popular in the blogosphere.  I have tried it and unfortunately I’m not a fan. I know.

Okay now I am a huge fan of cheesecake-it’s actually my favorite kind of cake and yes, it beat’s red velvet.  I request this in lieu of Birthday cake.  So with that being said, I’d like to try this someday.

KBC Pumpkin Ale.

I don’t think I’ve tried the Pumpkin bread & muffin mix, but I have had their pumpkin pancake which isn’t bad.  If you dig the P word, you would probably like it.

Alright for my fellow non P lovers, this section is for you!

This Cranberry Apple butter rocks.  It’s more on the tart side & not super sweet like jam which I dig.  It’s great on freshly baked bread made with love by the hus.

If you’re a mango fan, the dried Just Mango slices are heaven.  Guess I do like something that’s orange after all.

I haven’t tried this flavored olive oil, I think it’s new since I haven’t seen it before.  But all of the flavors sound incredible dipped with crusty bread and a little balsamic. Dang, check me out, sounding like a foodie and stuff.

Any pumpkin lovers out there?

Any TJ’s suggestions?  Something I have to try?

  1. I JUST went to TJ’s yesterday and bought: pumpkin soup, pumpkin bar mix, and pumpkin butter.

I admit it but it was cold and rainy the past three days and I…I… I just couldn’t help it!

  2. I must get my butt to TJ’s then. I am a pumpkin lover. I can’t help it. I love cheesecake and will devour that cake whole if you give me the chance. That and I want some pumpkin beer!

The cranberry jam looks good too 🙂

Pumpkin for me is comfort. It’s the fall. It’s Halloween. It’s my birthday month and it just makes me happy.

I haven’t been to TJ’s in months (oh the shame! haha) so I don’t have any suggestions other than my favorite antioxidant powerfruit dark chocolate treat.

  3. Girl I love me some TJ’s…and pumpkin. It just would not be fall without everyone beating us over the head with pumpkin flavored things…haha

  4. Haha I was at TJ’s yesterday and was thinking the exact same thing! I’m not a huge pumpkin lover, but I LOVED seeing it everywhere because it means fall and all the lovely holidays are here! So comforting.

  5. I love your blog, and I am a pumpkin lover myself. I miss trader joe’s here in Texas ( I lived down the street from one in SLO;)), but hopefully we will get one here in Austin soon! Everything looks delicious!

Also, try the pumpkin coffee. If you hate it, I’ll pay you to ship it to me 🙂

  7. I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin flavored anything – I want the real stuff. EXCEPT Pumpkin Mocha Lattes from Caribou Coffee. I swear it’s like a bit of autumn heaven in a cup! I tried the same from Starbucks – disappointing.

    Obviously, I’m a coffee snob.

    • …Also, I’m not a fan of Trader Joe’s. They have good stuff but never a great selection of even the most basics. Example: One week they don’t have green onions and the next they don’t have Canola Oil. I’m a Whole Foods girl. And I’m really lucky as my WF and TJ’s are right across the street from each other.

  8. Im obsessed with the cran apple butter, it’s amazing as PB&J. I also really like the pumpkin walks into a bar because I love all the walk into a bar varieties. The coffee was in the samples section of my TJs recently and it was good but I dont know if I could handle a full cup.
