A hospital stay & a Pinterest Christmas

My favorite person on the whole planet is in the hospital this morning for the first time ever.  Well, as long as I’ve been alive.  This stubborn, spitfire, sweetheart has a partial blocked heart valve.  It’s tough being so far away from home, feeling helpless but my folks did a great job keeping me updated.

They kept her overnight to do more testing and boy was I worried all night.  I bet she’s sitting in bed twiddling her thumbs as I type this-something she’s always done!

Grandma & I are a lot alike so I can imagine how out of place & lonely she must have felt.  She’s a creature of habit and I just know she wanted to be home in her bed.  But she was most definitely in the best place possible.

Overall it seems like she’s doing much better.  We are all staying positive & hoping she is well enough to go home soon.  She’s too stubborn to give up.  Smile

You can bet I have big plans to get grandma Starbucks wasted when I go home.

If y’all wouldn’t mind saying a little prayer or send well wishes her way my family & I would really appreciate it.  <3  Love you guys!!

The world knows how much I LOVE Christmas, I’m having a really hard time waiting to decorate until the day after Thanksgiving.  So I’ve been stalking Pinterest for ideas I love but will probably never recreate myself.  It’s so fun to Pin stuff & dream.

Sooooo in an effort to celebrate one holiday at a time, I will hold off on decorating and share some of the most beautiful Christmas pictures with you.  I sure hope you don’t mind while I get this out of my system…for now.  Muhahaha

I can’t even get over how cute these mini gingerbread houses are!!  These have to be my favorite find.  I mean, how do you even decorate something so tiny?  love.love.love.

I’m big on textures and simplicity.  This Noel sign is super adorable & I bet easy to make.  Anyone want to play Martha Stewart for me?

So true!

This adorable driftwood Christmas tree is one of those why didn’t I think of that things.  I bet it would be super cute on the front porch too.

This is probably my second favorite.  Imagine sitting on that cold patio set with your paws wrapped around a hot cup of coffee or hot cocoa staring at the twinkling lights.  It would be chilly, but that view would be so worth it.

So simple, so festive.  Now this is something even I could totally do.

***Side note, all pics were taken from Pinterest, where I was unable to find the source on all but 1.  If you know where they are originally from, please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.  We all know there’s no way in heck I’m remotely this creative.***

Do you have a Pinterest account?  Link to it.  Ooh and if you have a whole board devoted to Christmas, link to that too!

My family is thinking about doing a homemade Christmas.  If you have any semi-easy DIY gift ideas, please let me know/link to them.

  1. SO sorry to hear about your grandma! I will for sure keep her in my prayers!

I am LOVING Pinterest ideas right now for Christmas. I am overwhelmed with ideas and don’t even know where to begin! It is my favorite holiday as well!

  2. Sorry to hear about your Grandma – I hope that she is much better today and able to go home soon!!!!

  3. Oh your sweet grandma! I completely understand the feeling of wanting to in your own bed and home! I can picture her being just as you described: a spitfire that’s too stubborn to give up. I love it! Prayers to her and I’m sure she’ll be out of there in no time! My favorite posts you’ve done are the ones when she chopped down her tree..It really made me laugh!

I love Pinterest and have gotten tons of great ideas from it. I have a newish account that goes with my blog: http://www.pinterest.com/twinsontherun1/boards/

  4. I’m having a hard time waiting for Christmas too! On Sunday my husband and I almost went out shopping for Christmas decorations but we stopped ourselves! phew!!

Homemade vanilla extract is a great homemade gift! If you google it a BUNCH of recipes will come up! 🙂

  5. Sending prayers for you and your Grandma.

Those PIN’s you shared are beautiful and make me want to get out the decorations. I had to stop using Pinterest, it was like a rabbit hole I couldn’t get out of and I was wasting way too much time there. That and StumbleUpon.

    • Yep, that’s it. If you click on the image, it’ll take you there. Unfortunately that’s the only link I could find.
Let me know if you make them!

  6. I love scanning Pinterest for Christmas ideas, although I have to admit while I love decorating, I sort of loathe all Christmas music (I know! What a Grinch!)

My prayers go out to your grandma and your whole family, grandmas are tough cookies and pull rough so much more than I’d expect… And always seem to come out even stronger than they went in!

    • Hah I can definitely agree with you on *some* of the Christmas music. Just say no to the Chipmunks.
Thank you so much for the encouragement. She’s doing much better!
