Awhile back Skora Running sent me a pair of their Phase shoes to test out.

Skora is a new virtually weightless, minimalist running shoe with a zero drop.  These kicks provide a more natural run with less support than traditional running shoes.

It was my first time trying any minimalist shoe, so I was very cautious.  For newbies, it is strongly advised to ease into them to allow your body to adjust to a new way of running.

While I never ran in them – I’m a little nervous given my dealings with injury punks but I do use them for a ton strength training.

Due to the instability of the shoe, I found they took my strength training to a whole new level.  Y’all know I’m a strong supporter of strength training, but when I started training in these babies, I had sore muscles in places I didn’t even know existed.  Boom!

The only problem I had was the heel was lacking cushioning for my delicate chicken feet – that could just be me, I don’t know, so the awesome folks at Skora sent me the Form to try.

These kicks are SO much more comfortable and provide the same unstable support the Phase did to I can continue to torture myself.  Score!

To ease into them, I simply started out by walking around town, drinking coffee you know the usual around here.  When first I slipped them on, I noticed the difference between these an my trusty nutural kicks – a more natural, freeing feeling right away.

They are super soft, have great attention to detail and I think the quality is definitely well above average.  Bonus points for super low ankles.  I freaking love that!

Front view because not only are they functional, they are adorable.  Also they run a bit on the larger side, so I’d recommend ordering a half size down.

  1. i really like my skora phases, but would either like to add to the rotation the phase-x (because i’m always a pre-dawn runner) or the skora core (because i’m not sure that the phases will hold up through the canadian winter)!

  2. “Due to the instability of the shoe, I found they took my strength training to a whole new level. Y’all know I’m a strong supporter of strength training, but when I started training in these babies, I had sore muscles in places I didn’t even know existed. Boom!”

    Love that quote!

I think shoes that don’t support your body and MAKE your body do the supporting really strengthen the intrinsic (smaller) muscles of the lower leg as well as improve your sense of body position and potentially reaction time, making you MORE stable.

  3. Interesting! I’ve never seen or heard of these. I’d love to try out the FORM BLUE CAMO/WHITE/FLO.PINK

  4. I would like to try the Forms. I too need a bit more support and the colors are cute 🙂

  5. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to run in minimalist shoes. I would try the Form, and i’m a sucker for black running shoes so I would want the Black/white/lt coral color combination!

  6. I guess I’d try the Form clue camo colored ones. Just for a different experience and if it’s a workout from just walking around, that would be neat.

  7. I love my forms. I would love another pair. I was a Brooks girl for 7 years and I can never wear another shoe again!

  8. I would use these for the gym. If I would win I’d like the Core in grey and light blue.

  9. I know right away! The Form natural/blue/pink or the Core grey/purple/ice. I’ve been eyeing these since I saw them on your blog. They are beautiful!!!

  10. Love these shoes! I’d like to try the Form, The Black/white/lt coral color combo looks pretty. There are lots of cute colors!

  11. I would like to try the Form for my running and also see how they do as a hiking shoe.

  12. I haven’t heard of these before, but now I’m very intrigued! I have been running in the New Balance Minimus sneakers, first the 4mm drop then moved to the zero drop. I’ve been a big fan of the zero drop, which is what initially caught my eye about the Skoras. The elastic heel strap and no tongue (love that!) on the Skoras is a step up in minimalist comfort, and I love the ankle cut. I am very interested in scoring some Skora Forms (that blue and yellow is sharp) to kick up my minimalist running game! Thank you for the generous giveaway.

  13. I have been wanting to try the Skora Phase for a while for shorter runs and strength training! Love their look and the functional of the sideways laces.

  14. These shoes look right up my street, I so want to try them! I’m definitely a Bambi runner so I’d be off like a shot in a pair of white Forms.

  15. I’d love to put them into rotation for cross training, they look really comfy and I love that they have low ankles too.

  16. I’d love to try the Skora Form as my running shoe. I’ve been having shoe issues lately and it seems the more minimal the shoe the more comfortable it is.

  18. I’d love to try out the Form ones! I travel for work and always love to walk around and explore the town I’m in. These would be perfect!

  19. I like the PHASE BLUE/FLO.ORANGE/WHITE shoes for my husband – he’s in a bit of a training lull since he got injured and I think these would help him get back!

  20. The Skora Phase look great! I wouldn’t be able to run in them as I need a little support for my running shoes, but they would be great for strength training and Crossfit. Oh, and for wearing on walks, too.

  21. These are amazing! I love their story and the thorough research they did when creating the shoes. I would probably go with the Core line. The color combos are great! These would be great for running and strength training.

  22. I think I would mostly use them for strength training as well because that’s something I can always use a little extra boost with, so I’d like the Forms!

  23. I think the form would be great, I really need a good strength training shoe, right now I just used my most recently retired running shoe.

  24. I would love to have a pair of the Phase-X because I mostly run at night. The way the reflect and light up at night looks amazing!

  33. I love the SKORA | Phase, especially the Pink/Yellow/Cyan ones. I’d be repping those at the gym!

  34. At first the Forms would have been my pick. Then I saw the Base. It would be a tough call! I would use them for strength training. And carpool. 🙂

  35. I would have to sport my new kicks around the health club along w/out on the town!

  36. I use support shoes for running but have wanted to try a minimalist shoe for awhile now. I would also use them for casual wear, or strength training! I’d love to try out the Forms in black/silver/ice!!!

  37. I’d pick the skora form. I want to feel your pain ( sore muscles ).

  38. I’d love to win a pair of phase x or a pair of forms to run in. My Merrell road glove 2’s just aren’t cutting it

  39. The Form ones are really cute :), I have never heard about them but would love to try them and use them for doing my workouts at home like Insanity, P90X2, Asylum 🙂 and then maybe some short runs

  40. The Form or the Core look awesome! I’ve gotta say, you sell the Form quite well 🙂 I’m like you, I would use them for strength training, I need more of that!

  41. I would go with the Phase because it comes in purple, and I’d love to give them a try for running. I’m currently in a shoe with a 4mm drop so I’d like to see if I could transition to a zero drop shoe and still like it 🙂 if not they would match all my after work and weekend attire

  42. I would love the core shoes in the char grey/pink/white. If I had such stylish shoes on I would work out all the time but let’s be honest I’d also wear them 99% of the rest of the time.

  43. I would pick the form. I’d def wear them to the gym, and would have to try running in them. I’m a fan of minimalist shoes! These look awesome!

  44. Been wanting to try the minimalist shoes, and my Nikes are about maxed out on mileage…I’d choose the Form. Love that!

  45. the form in royal/white is so cute! i’m so in need of a new pair of shoes for strength and cross training!

  46. I would love to try the Base, or whichever one they say to try first. I recently bought a more “low profile” shoe without realizing it and loved it, so I am more open to trying this minimalist stuff. Especially if it was free 🙂

  47. I like the Form in the Blue Camo color. I would wear them for marathon training.

  48. I’ve never heard of these shoes! I’d love to try the Forms, sound & look pretty chill.:)

  54. I would pick the Advanced Phase in Flo.Pink/Flo. Yellow/Cyan!!
I would use them for cross-training and strength training!

  55. I love the form shoes in blue camo. So cool that they have nontraditional colors and patterns for women.

  56. Fun! I love trying new shoes…I love the look of the phase but have never ran in neutral so I’m thinking i would cross train and explore the world 😉

  57. I would love the Phase shoes! I ran a half marathon in FiveFinger shoes recently (about as minimalist as you can get without being totally barefoot). I love minimalist footwear, but I would ditto your sentiment that you need to be very careful and ease into it. Lots if people end up injured by running in them too soon!

  58. I think I’d like to take the Phase-X for a few short runs and see how it goes.

  59. I would love to try any of the Forms for serious walking. Love all the cute color cominations. These giveaways are the bomb!

  62. Ooh I would love to try these! I’d probably use them for gym workouts first to see how my feet adapted to them. Thanks for the giveaway chica!

  63. Skora Form! Wow – AWESOME looking shoes that I’d probably wear to work frequently (which includes a short 1/2mi walk from parking each way), the gym for Body Works a couple times a week and as a great looking alternative to my Classic Vans I wear most of the summer! Love the lace placement, too!

    • Aargh – my comment got cut off! I’d try the Skora Form for cross training and maybe some short runs!

  64. Skora Form without doubt. Sounds like the perfect shoe for taking on the cobblestone covered hilly streets (live in Switzerland). Glad you shared these-will have to check their website.

  65. Hmmm… tough choice! I think I would like to try out the form for my running.

  66. I’d love to try the Phase. I’ve been looking at them for a long time but haven’t decided yet if it seems right for me. I’d want to try running in them!
