Slow down & enjoy the season

This week has been insane.  Mike & I have been so busy with work which is a great problem to have, but I am looking forward to some downtime today.  If that boy’s work phone rings, I am going to throw it out the window.

And then the crazy wife in J comes out.  Nice.

So, in an effort to slow down, enjoy the season and relax, I came up with some things I’d like to do next week.

  • Bake Christmas cookies.  This has been on my “things I’d love to do” list for weeks, so it’s time to make it happen.
  • Wrap presents.  I haven’t wrapped one yet this season.
  • Spend sometime taking pictures.  I love photography so much, I really want to spend some time enjoying one of my favorite hobbies.
  • Drive down Candy Cane Lane with my boys.
  • Finish Christmas shopping.  Only a couple more.  Boom!

I kept the list small and simple, just the way I like it.  Plus the week is already off to a great start, I ran the Jingle Bell 5K in Pacific Grove this morning!  It was pretty incredible.  I’ll be doing a full recap next week.

  1. I think this is a great reminder! Sometimes we get so caught up we forget to slow down and enjoy the season! It comes and goes so quickly! 🙂

No races here, but I did spend a good sweaty 2 hours at the gym this morning! I’ll say I’m “running” my own race!

  2. Ran a Santa Run today and finally, after 2 years of trying, got my 5K time down to my goal and got a new PR too! Then ran the 1K kids dash with my little. Now, it’s nothing but relaxing and having fun with the babe and the baby.

My goal for this week is to slow things down. Relax and enjoy the comfort of being home before we begin our Holiday travel.

  3. Lol! I really need to get to baking cookies since I haven’t made any, also shopping for last minute presents for kids since we are always that late and bad about it, but I really hate going to the mall during this time of the year, people push you, you can’t find a parking spot, deals are not that great, overall it a big bleh to me. I give Art Docent lessons to my daughter’s class so my goal for this week is also to have all the supplies and samples done this week because the first day of school I’m doing a winter lesson :). I have never done a Jingle Bell run but I’m totally doing it next year, I totally wanna dress as an elf :D.

  4. I am determined to finish Christmas shopping. One person on my list “the man who has everything” has me really stumped on what to get. Hopefully I will figure it out this week and won’t be scrambling on Christmas Eve!

  5. I love the idea of making Christmas time just simple. I love going to family parties and all the hustle and bustle but it’s about those quiet moments that you remind yourself what this season is about. Thanks for the reminder!

  6. Yay for slowing down and enjoying the Holidays! 🙂
Have fun baking Christmas cookies! I’m jealous that you’re almost done Christmas shopping! I am just starting now. Womp Womp. Nothing like waiting till the last minute 😉
