Blog changes

I want to personally thank each and every single one of you who virtually hang out with me, drop a sweet, funny & encouraging comment every day and have made my little blogging hobby so much fun!

Thank you thank you thank you!!

You may have noticed the new layout, some advertisements & other small changes on here recently.  That’s because thanks to you guys, SCB has grown.  It still blows my mind that people come to my blog to read my random ramblings every day.  I’m feel very humbled and thankful for that.

About the changes…

Advertising:

My goal has been and is to always be honest + transparent with you.  My passion for blogging has grown over the years and with that, the readership has grown as well.  Every month the expense of my hobby started to rise a little more for hosting fees, a web wizard who keeps the blog oiled & greased along with a bunch of other little stuff.  To help offset the expense, I brought in advertising.  I’m not making a million bucks, but what I do make, I put it right back into the blog.  That enables me to continue to deliver awesome lame content.

Speaking of…anyone wanna loan me a couple mill?  Anyone?

Content:

After a lot of thinking, I’ve decided to change the way I blog a little this year.  While I have always been completely honest with you, but I started to feel like I dilute myself.  You may have noticed that some of my posts have a little more personal opinions/views/thoughts.  Well that’s because this is my personal blog and I want to write about my viewpoints on several life topics.  My goal is not to be confrontational or attack your beliefs or viewpoints, it’s to simply share mine and bring conversation.

Mike & I are very conservative, we’re members of the NRA, we love our troops, our country & most of all God.  I don’t feel the need to shy away from who I am.  If you don’t agree, that is completely fine.  Debating + difference of opinion are one of many reasons I love blogging.  You are welcome to share your thoughts + opinions as well.  I just ask that you keep it respectful & classy.

I consider this a running and life blog, so don’t you worry, I will still be blogging my little heart out about that too.  My goal is to add more of myself to what I’ve already been doing.

Brand Ambassadorships:

I feel very honored to be selected to work with some of my favorite brands.  At the same time I am very selective with who I represent.  They have to be brands I use, love + believe in.  It shouldn’t surprise you that in 2014 I am a brand ambassador for Mizuno, BIC Bands and Nuun Hydration.  These are all a very natural fit as I use & LOVE them already.

My goal with representing these brands is to share my love for them, give my honest review on products, answer questions, collect your thoughts on how to improve them, offer discounts & giveaways on the latest cool gear and continue to do what I love.

If you don’t like these changes {I hope you do!} that’s totally fine.  I’m sure there’s another blog out there that might better suit your needs.

I really hope you enjoy the content & changes.  I appreciate + welcome your thoughts, ideas and questions.  So please feel free to drop me a line!

100% of this blog is my opinion alone.  It does not reflect the thoughts or beliefs of brands I work for and/or with.  I do what I want.

  1. LOVE it! Love all the little ecards totally suit today’s topic of change! Random Question: I know you run for the love of it as many of us do, but do you run for any charities? specific charities? part of any organazations that support charities?

    • While I love running & supporting races that are specifically geared towards raising funds for charities, fundraising is not an interest of mine.

      • I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog for the last year or so – it’s been a daily ritual! My political views definitely differ from yours, while I’m certainly not out to criticise you or your opinions, I think I will struggle to read other posts which quite drastically differ to the way I view the world. As maybe you would reading a blog written by a liberal blogger? I just wanted to be honest, but entirely respect your choice to be open with your readers. It is your blog after all – all the best 🙂

        • I just realized I may have posted my response to your comment to someone else, not you. I really apologize.
Thank you so much for reading + being apart of SCB.
You don’t have to agree with me, but I hope you voice your opinions. I read a couple liberal based blogs, Healthy Tipping Point being one of them and although I don’t always agree with her, I appreciate her honestly + point of view. When it’s written in a classy, non confrontational way, I’m open minded and sometimes enlightened.
The running + life content you love on SCB will still stick around so if you don’t care for a post about my viewpoints, feel free to skip over them.

  2. Love the changes! I don’t like how people get upset because of little changes here and there, the blog is your life! I’ve been following you for a very long time now and I never get sick of your posts. Plus you love country music 🙂 and Will Ferrell… and you keep it real!

  3. I really like your blog and i used to like Skinny runner’s too but sadly she took hers down :(, so i hope you never do that.
I love that you not only talk about running but life in general, when it comes to advertising those products, I LOVE THEM!!! and i wouldn’t know about them if it wasn’t for you so thank you for promoting them, they have helped me with my runs :D…well i have yet to try the BIC bands but it won’t be long lol.

    • SR is still on social media – love her as well!
Thank you SO much for reading. And go get yo bad self some BIC Bands. You’ll thank me later for the awesome life advice. 😉

  4. I’m looking forward to seeing what all you are going to be doing here – so exciting about your changes!!!

  5. I actually appreciate when bloggers recommend brands and running gear (or coffee brands lol.) I’ve always been extremely happy with my purchases of items recommended by bloggers. Skinny Runner and Run Eat Repeat are responsible for a large percentage of the awesome gear I own( mizuno and brooks shoes, my garmin watch, pro compression…all things that have improved my running life!!) I just bought a bunch of BIC bands off of your recommendation and I can’t wait for them to arrive!! I’m excited about the way your blog is evolving. It keeps me in the know about new items from brands I already love as well as introducing me to things I’ve never heard of! Love it!

    • I feel the same way. I never would have known about these awesome products if I didn’t read these cool blogs as well.
Girl, you have to let me know how you like BIC Bands! Thanks for reading.

      • I received my BIC bands today and LOOOVE them!! Thanks so much for the suggestion.

  6. Thank you for being so honest, and for not being afraid/ashamed to put your personal opinions and beliefs out there! It’s so refreshing to see. As a co-conservative living in Mass., if I even tell people what political party I belong to, people jump down my throat! It’s refreshing to hear someone else’s opinions that are similar to mine. 🙂

  7. Way to go girl for taking control of this and keeping it your own. Can’t wait to follow all your adventures over the coming year!!!

  8. I think it’s awesome that you are growing and changing. Good for you making it your own and being true to yourself! I pretty much only purchase running stuff based on reviews and recommendations from the bloggers I follow. It gets expensive when you make bummer purchases and can’t return them, so I really appreciate “real” feedback and recommendations! I was scared for a second you were going to tell us you were giving up the blog, I can’t handle another fave blogger vanishing on me/us!

  9. Awesome stuff- I appreciate your straight shooting honesty and really look forward to reading your blog.

  10. Will one of the changes be using spell check? I love reading your blog but you undermine yourself quite a bit with all of the spelling and grammatical errors.

  11. I think I like you a little more each day, Jacqueline! Don’t worry, not in a creepy stalker way. 🙂

My husband and I are both conservative as well. I’ve stayed away from certain topics on my blog but there have been times where it’s been hard not to speak my mind. I tend to get pretty fired up about certain things. Kudos to you for speaking your mind and welcoming others to speak theirs!

    • I adore you as well my friend.
Writing about touchy topics isn’t easy, especially with so many others opinions. But I know that when I read a blog post about them, even if I agree or not, they tend to be my favorites.
I don’t think bloggers shouldn’t feel bad about writing their views & beliefs on THEIR blog. If people don’t like it, they can either skip over it or find another blog to read.

  12. I was wondering how many miles you get out of your Mizuno’s. I know there is no magic number but I am curious. I am on my 2nd pair and my ankle is starting to hurt but I don’t think I’ve out enough miles on them to justify getting the new 17’s…yet!!

  13. I love what you said about presenting your viewpoints. I’ve been working on a post for my blog that is a bit off-topic from fitness and motherhood and it could ruffle some feathers even though that’s not the intention. I’m hesitant to post it for that reason, but it’s my blog and I quite like the piece, so I think I probably will.

I’m also happy to have you as a conservative voice in my blog reading because it seems all the other ones I read have a more liberal view and it’s nice to have balance, so yay!

    • Girl, you should totally post it. If you do, please let me know as I’d love to read it.
PS Let me know if you’re ever in the Monterey area, I’d love to meet you!

  14. I’ve really enjoyed reading your blog for the last year or so – it’s been a daily ritual!

    • Sophie, this is exactly what I’m looking for!

  15. I love all the ecards in this post. 🙂 you should never have to apologize for posting your own thoughts and beliefs in your own blog! And I think it’s cool when bloggers get sponsored. Maybe someday I’ll be cool enough to be sponsored too. Keep doin’ what you do!

  16. I didn’t know there were NRA members in California. Being a Texan, we have a tendency of grouping everyone in California (and Austin, TX for that matter) as liberal hippies. Good to know there are some like-minded people out there on the West-coast. As for not hiding your belief and faith in God, I applaud you. There are too many bloggers out there who think they need to hide their faith, or only mention it once or twice a year, in order to keep readers. That’s cutting yourself and God short. He doesn’t want to be compartmentalized in our lives, He wants to be in every part. And while you don’t have to turn into a preacher on the blog, showing that you’re not ashamed of the Gospel is a great place to start!

    • Ha yes, there are in fact NRA members in Cali. We’re outnumbered, but we’re here!!
Thank you so much for your support!!

  17. I love your product recommendations. After all word of mouth from a trusted source is much better if you ask me 🙂 Love your blog and love that you are “solid” in staying true to who you are. No selling out for SCB. Good for you girl. Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us XOXO

  18. The reason I read running blogs are for the honesty. I might not always agree with your political views or other things, but so what? You’re a cool person with cool ideas and you write a heck of a blog. 🙂 That’s success. If you ever say something that offends another person, they can skip that blog post or find another place to read. Keep doing what you’re doing!! We love it!!

    • Cori, this is exactly what I’m looking for!! Folks like you.
Thank you for virtually hanging out with me & all of your support.
