Weekly goals + what my goals should be

This girlfren is having a hard time waking up this morning.  I slept in until 8:00 {yes EIGHT!} when Mike finally decided I needed to get up to harass him, so he woke me up with breakfast in bed.

And yes, that is my Pookie dog in the wooden box on my night stand.  She still got half a piece of my toast just like the good ole days.  New readers, you may read about Pook here.

I attended a work meeting yesterday where I was warned to be prepared to work next week.  Well allrighty then.  This is perfect since I love to be so busy I can’t even think.  Not all the time, but I’ll take it over the days that drag on.

As I’m gearing up mentally for the craziness next week, there are some mini goals I would like to accomplish this week.  I sat down Sunday evening and did a little planning for the week.  The Type A in me is ecstatic right now.

SCB’s mini goals:

  • Make at least one home cooked dinner.  I know this probably sounds weird, but with Mike’s erratic work schedule and my lack of cooking skills, I find it hard to get motivated to cook dinner.  I usually grab a frozen meal from TJ’s or make a snack plate and call it good.
  • Clean the entire house + do all of the laundry.  I spent Sunday catching up, so I really want to stay on top of it.  Coming home to a clean house is so relaxing for me.
  • Strength train 3x.  Yah, slacker central here, sorry PT ninja.  It’s time to get a lot more serious.  I start training on February 1 for a 10K race in March and I want to go in as strong as possible.

  • Just freaking run.  I am a much happier person when I run.  Shocking, right.  With a visit from my BFF, hanging with Mike and just living, I skipped out on a couple runs last week.  While I am not sorry, life comes first, I’m just really excited to hit up the trail this week and throw down more miles on my new Mizuno Wave Hitogami kicks.

  • Take Bam to the dog park or beach.  Then snuggle with him after a bath.  Bonus points for not stepping on a bee.

  • Slow down and enjoy the week off. 
  • Drink lots-o-coffee because why not.

What my goals should be:

  • Put the trash + recycle cans away on trash day.
  • Do the dishes in a timely manner.
  • Sort the mail as soon as it comes in.
  • Don’t let laundry sit in the dryer and get wrinkled for days.
  • Sweep the floors every day. 
  • Start gathering tax paperwork.

  1. I definitely need to get better with strength training at least 2x (preferably 3). I also am great about doing laundry but folding it is not my fave and it sits in a basket for like 50 years.

  2. Which 10k are you doing?? Local? Mini goals, get in some actual strength training as well. Must strengthen legs to run! aaah. Sleeping in for me is 8am. Usually I’m up by 6. I need to do a lot of laundry too, but currently can’t since our washer went out. It’s currently dissected, it’s parts strewn apart the garage as the hubs tries to ‘fix’ it.

  3. Sounds like we have similar weeks this week. I have a VERY low work load this week so I also made my list of To Do’s for the week on Sunday. Some fun like get a massage and others not so fun like clean house, do laundry blah blah blah. I tried to have an equal amount of fun and not so fun so I keep getting little rewards. But like you I have SLOW DOWN and Enjoy the week on it 🙂 When I know the week is going to be busy I try and meal prep a few meals and toss them in the freezer. Make things much easier when dinner is checked off the list. Sleeping in for me is 6:00 AM. 🙂 Happy Tuesday!!!!

  4. My goal is to get to Friday. Same goal every week! 😉
    Seriously though, my goal is to get to TRX 3 times this week and do mini workouts the other days.

  5. I consider any time past 7am sleeping in. I am usually up and going around 5 or 530am. This morning I slept until 6 and it was awesome.

  6. I haven’t had a full nights sleep in about 2/12 years. So at this point, I’d take that over sleeping in!
    My goals: make a loaf of sourdough bread, vacuum, get an oil change on one of the vehicles. Wow, what a super exciting list!

  7. I have to prep for busy weeks by making lists…lots of lists. Thats the only way I get things done. My goals vs what they should be are usually pretty different.

  8. If I can get up after 7am I am a happy camper. Between work and my children it is hard to sleep in. I will run in the morning when I have to or on weekends, but that is usually later in the morning.

  9. I am such a happier person when I run as well so I know how that feels!! Great goals – I am aiming to slow down and take things a day at a time. That sounds easy but for a crazy planner like me – it’s not!
