It’s not your problem if they don’t like you

Hot dang, I am stoked to hear a lot of you are digging the time change as well!!  I’m feeling a gazillion times more productive, heck Mike came home for dinner last night and I didn’t even realize how late it was.

Earlier yesterday I did the Scenic Drive loop in Carmel just because I felt like it.  Actually I do that drive very slowly at least twice a week-it’s one of my favorite things to do.

Speaking of, I’m working on my favorite things to do in Carmel + Monterey post, and you can bet that drive will be in it.

I also spent some quality time strength training.  I changed things up a bit by doing hip abductions, side steps and lunges.  We only have carpet in the bedrooms, so there was a lot of back + forth so I just kept at it until I thought my legs were going to fall off.  Is it sad I dig that feeling?

Don’t answer that.

Exercises can be found here.

Mike came home right as I was finishing up and I was a sweaty, huffing, puffing mess blasting P!nk on Pandora.  I just can’t turn this sexy off.  Winking smile

I started dinner, the boy’s fav, chicken + rice casserole and busted out my foam roller to work out the tightness in my hamstrings + hips.  I really need to get a golf ball for my paws and you’d think I’d remember to score one at work (every now + then the lawn folks find stray’s in the rough) but I am blonde and always forget to ask.

Us runners find ourselves in some very compromising positions, don’t we?  Non runners, this is totally normal.  Totally.

And some wise words from Bam because he’s that kind of guy.

no your problem

I’d love to add a couple new strength training exercises, what are your favorites?  Link to them if you can.

I’m curious, what does your typical week of workouts look like?

I try to run 3 days a week + strength train at least 2 days.

  1. A typical week for me is running 5 days and doing crossfit 2. I need my runs to stay sane or bad things happen to nice people. Yikes!

  2. I run 3 days, take a kickboxing class 1 day, and strength train 3 days. I do traditional weight lifting at the gym for 2 of those days and then the other day I take a body pump class. It’s boring and I need to change it up ASAP because I’m losing motivation. Skull crushers and hammer curls are my favorites. I like it when I can see arm muscles!

  3. I just decided to invest in some resistance bands and I look forward to adding them into my strength training! That has been my focus lately aside from running is to get back into strength training.

Seriously though I am going to come to Cali and move in with you…..those views are incredible! Sounds like a deal?! 🙂

  4. So what are you doing with this golf ball??? I love my foam roller. It makes such a difference.

  5. Must. have. Boston. Strong. bic band! I want to wear it to Boston in April. 🙂 How do I get one?

  6. With Tri training starting, my week looks like this: lead 4 group runs, swim twice per week, fit in my own runs somewhere…and oh ya…somewhere I need to fit biking in there.

Have you thought of investing in TRX cables…those babies hurt!!!

  7. Burpees are terrible but strengthen every muscle group.

I usually run 4 days a week and strength train 3, most of the time overlapping days because of my weirdo work schedule.

  8. I love how you always post your beautiful views from your run. I just got back from a run (with my new WAVE HITOGAMI) and I was telling my running buddy about how you get to run with beautiful views……….we just run in the PITCH DARK!!!! None the less it was a great run. SO my week is usually 4 or 5 days of running and 2 days of strength training. I have been slacking on my Strength work so I need to get back at it.

  9. Foam rolling your IT bands = best/worst feeling ever. A good alternative to a golf ball is a lacrosse ball for your feet. We just bought one for like $3 the other day and it feels amazing on my arches. I’ve just gotten back into strength training so now I run 3-4 days and strength train 2.

  10. My man comes home all the time to me blasting music during or after a workout, he’s used to that by now 😉

I typically run 4x week, Strength train 2-3 and cross train 2-3 (triathlon training…calls for double days!)

  11. California is beautiful! My favorite body weight strength training exercise is crossover lunges or curtsy lunges. They really get my butt! Haha.
