Thankful things Sunday came a day early

I took the new Mizuno Wave Sayonara’s for a spin.  After running in my newly beloved Hitogami’s I could feel a difference in weight & support.  I’ll be doing a full review after I put some more miles on them, but so far they are firmer and a stability shoe compared to the Wave Rider.

I had to show them the beach for the first time and ate some hills for second breakfast.  I think they were impressed.  Winking smile

The other day I had the pleasure of speaking to a man who was using a walker on his way to see the doctor.  He had to stop to catch his breath so I chatted with him before I got the door.  He told me he has congestive heart failure & has a tough time walking.

I’m proud of him for not giving up.  I also wish I could thank him for reminding me to be thankful for the ability to run.

I also want to thank my cowboy for supporting my crazy running adventures.  I’ll never be an elite athlete or run Boston, but I have a genuine love for torturing myself and this man is my biggest fan.

Sometimes be believes in me more than I do myself.  I am so thankful for this dude.

He pushes me to be better, speaks the truth even when I wish he’d keep his trap shut, teaches me how to defend myself, get’s up early to drive me to races then waits at the finish line to be my photographer & cheer me on. The boy doesn’t put up with my crap, comes back with something even more offensive than I said, which is always entertaining and loves coffee as much as I do. Still can’t believe I get to do this life thing with him. Yeah cowboy, you’re stuck with me. Good luck with that.

So for those who build us runners up, cheer us on, wake up at the butt crack of dawn to wait hours for us to cross the finish line and be our personal paparazzi, take care of the kiddos, tell us when we actually need to go for a run, never doubt our abilities or dreams even when they are a bit crazy, and everyone else who believes + supports the sport we love…

  1. Today I am also thankful I CAN run. My hubs Michael is my biggest fan- he and my boys never make me feel bad for spending so much ‘me’ time out running. Michael’s been at almost every finish line I’ve crossed- I couldn’t do it without my guy. Now I just need to find a race to sign up for SOON!!!

      • I’m totally looking in to it! The only problem is that my son has his senior prom the night before- how long does the drive usually take from Fresno to Monterey? I can make my husband drive me early in the a.m.

  2. Aww this was a sweet post 🙂 My husband and family are my #1 fans, as I am theirs! We each take our turns cheering each other on. My husband gets me more than anyone though and for that I am so thankful!

  3. That’s so true about being told you NEED to go for a run. Sometimes I’ll feel restless and cant pinpoint what’s wrong, then hubby tells me to just get outside and run. Works every time!

  4. aww that was so sweet :), my hubby supports my running hubby to but he’s not a big fan of it lol, i think the biggest would have to be my dogs because they get to run with me and smell and poop wherever we go :D. I’m thankful for living here in the U.S., having family and children including dogs and cats and just be able to run and workout and have a hubby who let’s me be a staying at home mom so that i can be there for my children even though they have a crazy idea that Day Care is awesome lol

  5. I’m not sure I have any fans when it comes to running. Most of my friends/family are the anti running type. Today, I am thankful for the nail tech that gave me a great mani/pedi!! It was so relaxing. I’m thankful that I’m healthy and was able to run 4 miles this morning with ease when not too long ago it was tough to even run a mile. …and finally, I’m thankful that (according to my pedicurist) my feet are still nice despite my running habit. Haha. I told her if they start to get hideous to tell me ASAP so I could change sports!

  6. I always need a little extra reminder to be thankful. Especially thankful for my husband, who is the only one who will put me in my place when I am being ridiculous.

  7. My daughter is my biggest fan and keeps me positive about my running! I don’t know how I would have survived this past year without running! I’m thankful for my health as today is my birthday!

  8. Today I’m thankful for my friends who love me and my craziness no matter what! Sometimes life can get nuts and it’s great to know that they always have my back! Currently my biggest fan is my three year old son. He watched me run a 5k (his first time watching) and has been asking when we get to race again… He says mommy I just want us too race!…. It’s better than him crying when I go for a run

  9. This is so true. It’s hard to forget about everyone else around us that make us who we are as runners and push us. I know my husband is the best for letting me make time for my run. He knows how important it is I get them in. he also knows when I need one 😉 haha

  10. My husband is also my biggest supporter. When we run together, he always slows down and does my run at my pace, then does a 2nd to get his workout in. As a newer runner, it’s the best!

Side question: why are you blurring out what comes after “today” in your garmin posts?
