Virtual coffee date: life + things I’m digging

Happy Friday!!  What are your plans for the weekend?  I hope there is sunshine, family + friends, running, coffee and even a little wine involved.

I really like having a virtual coffee date with you guys.  It’s a chance to catch up on what you’re up to and make you read a bunch of random things bouncing around in my head.  I feel sorry for you.

  • If we were having coffee, I’d tell you all about how busy I’ve been at work this week.  It’s been a blast but holy smokes I came home wore out last night.  I usually have a ton of energy so great job PB on your big accomplishment.  Smile I’d also tell you how excited I am to go back and do it all over again because making folks happy is incredibly fulfilling.  There’s no place I’d rather work at.

  • Coming home from a long day to a home cooked meal {spaghetti}made by Mike and a package of schweet PUMA workout gear are some of my favorite things.  Also add a glass of chilled white wine, Bam running around the house excited like it’s Christmas day and parking it on the couch for hours to that list.

  • Yesterdays run was so hot I thought I was going to die.  Then I got sad because I’ve become such a hot weather wussmeister.  Seriously, I lived most of my life in the Central Valley where anything in the 90’s during the summer is considered a cool down.  #beachbumprobs
  • I lost my police scanner the other day and thought my life was over.  After 2 hours of searching {yes I need to get a life} I found it in the couch cushion where Mike always sits.  Go figure.  But really, if you want some cheap entertainment I highly suggest getting one.  You’d be surprised what goes on around you.  I mean knowing there’s a cat stuck in a tree is public information.

  • My BFF R is coming to visit this month.  I am counting down the days until we can be beach bums, drink wine, climb rocks and get into a lot of trouble.
  • I’m excited about all of the fun stuff we have planned for May.  Plus my little sidekick, Lu is coming back for the summer soon too!!

  • I’m still doing the gluten free thing.  It’s nowhere near as hard as going dairy free, but I’m learning to read labels.  I’d never think a bag of potatoes chips contained wheat.  They are freaking potatoes, why add gluten?!
  • I would tell you how much I love + live by this.

Your turn to spill it.  What’s on your mind?

  1. I ran 3 miles yesterday and you’re right, it was so hot! I think it was 85 when I ran but I was just drippin’ sweat & I was feeling’ a little bad about bringing Ryder along, but then I feel so bad if I don’t!

I had no idea Puma had such awesome workout gear. I think I’ll have to check out their outlet near me.

I’m going to my friend Maren’s bridal shower in Salinas, so there will definitely be friends, family, and wine involved. 🙂

    • I had no idea Puma gear is so cute either. Have fun at Maren’s shower! She actually designed my blog banner, buttons & watermark. Love her!

  2. If we were having coffee I’d tell you I’m a bit nervous for my 10k race tomorrow…more so trying to figure out what to wear. I’m going to mom’s tonight and she’s making me pasta for supper to fuel for the run. Tomorrow will be sunny and nice for the run….something I have yet to experience this year…can’t wait.

I cleaned like a mad woman yesterday knowing I was going to be away and it was nice to go to bed with teh house clean.

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!

    • Pasta is the best meal ever. Well along with pizza. Good luck on your race tomorrow, you’ll rock it!

  3. DUDE! Your puma stuff is soooo cute. I love the 4 quarters thing – that’s some serious word. I’m thinking about how I’m running the Mermaid East Bay Half and Brooklyn Half a week apart and am realizing I’m a crazy person. XOX

  4. I am trying to stay calm and not stress about the upcoming move I have. We are moving the first week of June and I feel like I have NOTHING done. 🙂 It will all come together right? Oh, and when we move I will live only 45 minutes from my BFF and I am SO SO excited!

  5. I would tell you that I’m a little worried that I’m not going to get everything done for my wedding that I need to get done.

  6. LOVE the friend quote! In my experience, it’s hard to make friends as an ‘adult’ – especially since we live in an area so many people move to, but don’t usually stay more than a year or so. Thankfully I’ve been blessed with a couple quarters.:) We live across the country from one another, but that’s just a great excuse for traveling!

  7. I love that quote about friends and totally agree!!!
I feel like I have lots of acquaintances but only a couple people who I consider true friends.

  8. Today I will complain! I have freakin’ shin splints! aaaaaahhhhhh!!!! This thing is painful! And it is making me bummed out coz I cannot run for a couple of days. Oh well, I will be icing and maybe even trying to go on the stationary bike (blech!). Anywho, it is a three day weekend for me (yay!), so I will be spending some quality time with an ice pack, the hubby and the children. Maybe even take them strawberry picking on Monday in Watsonville.
As I am getting older, I am making new friends that share my passion and my interest. Although I have long time friends, I find that we are now sort of growing apart since they do not support my efforts to improve myself. oh well, my awesomeness is their loss! 🙂

  9. Do you feel better now that you’ve eliminated gluten? I agree, gluten is far easier to avoid than dairy. Dairy makes my face break out so I stay away from it as much as possible but it’s do tough. I’m grateful for soy lattes but worry about all the claims they make about soy. Sigh…

      • Maybe…but gluten may not be the culprit. It’s received a lot of attention over the past 5 years so many assume it’s the enemy, but that’s not true for everyone. Sometimes it’s anxiety/stress related rather than a dietary issue.

  10. I love hearing the stories that my husband, the police officer, comes home with. I am sure listening to the scanner is that much more entertaining! Before he became a police officer, I never realized how many domestic violence calls, crazy old lady calls, and DUIs people got. As a nurse, it takes a lot to shock me, but he always has a story that does the trick!

    • What a cool gig he has! I’d live to hear those stories. The latest funny story was a neighbor left their bird in it’s cage outside and a cat was trying to get it. #stufficantmakeup

  11. I LOVE it when packages come too. It’s like Christmas, being able to rip open a wrapped box for your goodies on the inside (that you KNOW you’ll love because you picked it! Haha)
