The Bixby Bridge + this is totally normal

I got called into work yesterday which is why I was MIA but it was really nice to unplug a little this weekend.

Let’s back up to Saturday…Ronda’s only request was to see the Bixby Bridge.  She’s very demanding like that. Or not.

Of course we complied with her wish.  This view never gets old-I’m pretty sure we could have stared at this all day.

It’s totally normal to stand on Highway 1 in the boot of shame to snap a pic.  Totally.

It’s been foggy + chilly all week so I’m happy the sun made an appearance on the day we made the drive.  It’s beautiful either way but you can’t beat the sun dancing on the water.

After soaking in the beautiful coast, we took R to my current favorite restaurant in the entire world, La Bicyclette in Carmel.  If you’re ever in the area, go here and then feel free to send me love notes.

Mike gave me a piggy back ride.  Hey, being crippled has it’s advantages.

We each ordered pizza.

Destroyed.

We had a great weekend but now I’m happy to get back to normal, whatever that is.

I’m thinking about upgrading my bike.  I currently have a hand me down Trek but it’s a little too big.  Do you have a model/brand you love?  Or a hybrid similar to this Cannondale?  I am positive talking about bikes is a whole other language.

Hands down the best part of my weekend was______________.

  1. Holy sheet! Dat bridge! Are you like me in that when you see something like that, you think it would be cool to jump off from? No? Just me?! I gotta get to that bridge though. Looks amazeballs. I have a trek 1000. It’s hibernating (forever). I pretty much shat myself going 35mph downhill in my first tri race. I practically stared at that skinny ass tire all the way down the 2 mile stretch. I prayed for no pebbles and sticks. The best thing this weekend was def getting that extra day off. I needed to work on my farmers tan before the events this weekend. Thanks for sharing! Oh, btw, is (only) pepperoni your go to pie?

  2. Ok, who didn’t eat their crust?? That’s my favorite part!
The best part of my weekend was taking my kids to the cemetery with their great grandma. Along with hundreds of other people!

  3. Getting back out there running and weight lifting after being sick and in the hospital. Yuck! Feels so great to be back!

  4. Lots go great bikes out there…if you are serious about getting an upgrade go and get fit at a bike shop. They will make sure you’re getting into the proper bike. Are you looking to rCe or to just ride for fun and exercise? Probably don’t need the super light carbon frame if you’re only looking to cruise the coast, so you can save some bucks and go with an aluminum frame with a carbon fork. I have a Cervelo by the way, and it is clearly the best bike ever <– says everyone about their own bike (ie take brand recommendations with a grain of salt)

  5. RELAXING! I had a lot of work to do but I only did a portion of it and just spent time relaxing with my husband. It was nice!

  6. Found you while exploring Instagram today and followed your blog while I was at it. The best part of my weekend was getting back out on my bike. I’ve been laid up with back pain for over a month and the chiropractor finally has me feeling better! 65 miles between Thursday and Monday!

  7. Hands down – spending Saturday night with my husband and all four of our kids. My husbands son (my bonus kid – he’s awesome and I would steal him if I didn’t like his mom so much) lives in Alaska so we don’t see him often enough. We only have one kid left at home (my daughter), and having all three of the grown boys home was pure heaven.

  8. That view is magnificent! I’m sooo jealous because there are no great views here and it’s like freezing out… AGAIN!!!! I think I need to move to the west coast;)

Hands down the best part of my weekend was qualifying for Boston! An unexpected surprise for sure!
