Update on my June goals, week 1

I realized something recently; I love setting goals, but rarely do a follow up post about my progress, so here’s the update on my June Rest + Rehab goals.

Week 1:

  • Overall I think I’ve done pretty good job of resting this week. I’m currently eating sour patch kids while watching The Deadliest Catch {aka crabbing} with Bam. Speaking of crabbing, is anyone else sick of crybabies Elliot and Kelly? Geez dude, suck it up. Team Sig all the way!
  • Mike very firmly told me to stop cleaning the house when our cleaner was here the other day-something he never does. I knew he was right but it’s still SO hard for me to have someone clean my house while I sit. Hopefully one day I won’t mind.
  • I go to physical therapy once a week. They are amazing! I feel like every time I go they get me over a plateau. This week I am able to stand on both feet without any pain at all under the supervision of my PT. Schweet progress!
  • Healing this stress fracture is taking a lot longer than I expected. I’m not sure why I thought it wouldn’t, I mean it’s a fractured bone and all.

  • Mike has been amazing at keeping me fed, entertained and taking me on long afternoon drives to all my favorite places. He even pulls over so this photography obsessed chick can snap a few pics. Swoon.

  • Yesterday was sunny, gorgeous + warm so I made it down to the beach to change up the scenery and rest the ole paw. After I went home and gave my self a mani-pedi. Obnoxious neon pink FTW!

  • I got a couple rides in and felt good enough to push it a little which felt amazing.

Things I miss:

  • Running, but that’s a big phat duh!
  • Walking on the off leash beach with Bam. I miss this almost as much as running but when I’m no longer crippled it’s on.
  • Cleaning my house.

Overall I think it went pretty well. Having this list to reference to has been really helpful with staying on track. I’ve mentioned it in the past, but really, the best thing for me has been to focus on things I CAN do.

  1. Hey, you know what’s cool.. when I’m at work, I get your blog in the am, RER at lunch and HRG in the mid afternoon. lol, if anyone else at my work reads your blog, I’m in trouble. Let’s hope not (for my sake). One less reader for you…selfish I know.
    – I didn’t make an NY resos because I know I can’t keep them
    – group runs and choppin it up with some friends. And oh, yeah, marathon training (you see me fake smiling?)
    – right now, I fear injury and not completing my race streak.

    – and 2 MORE of my so-called friends are going the trail running route exclusively. Gah, I guess I’m going to have to put some trail running in my schedule just to kick it wit dem. You better not go cold turkey on pavement running after you heal!

    I know how you feel regarding the cleaning lady. I’ll allergic to pretty much everything, so a couple of years ago my doctor recommend I hire a cleaning person for my house. I always feel SO AWKWARD just sitting around though! It’s so uncomfortable!

  3. You’re totally making me want to give myself a mani/pedi! I have desperately needed one for weeks – trying to save money so I have forgone the mani/pedi, but I need it bad!

  4. My housemates and I had cleaners come once a month our senior year and I always had to leave the house when they were over cause I always felt so guilty just sitting there.

    This weekend I’m looking forward to my sister’s graduation party!! It’s going to be a blast!

  5. I didn’t make any new years resolution so I’m good :p.
    I’m looking forward to just hiking and relaxing this weekend and I fear injury most of the time but right now I’m scared of my first marathon, I’m not following a training program and just running by heart I guess so I’m quite freaked out but hoping for the best

  6. I love that you are embracing your down time! Beach time, drives, honestly it’s awesomeness! Because it is going to make that first run back absolutely frickin’ amazing! Hang in there!

    As far as New Year’s resolutions go…I never make any, honestly. I just set goals throughout the year, and work towards them. But, I like setting new intentions every year, and feeling like I have a fresh start 🙂

  7. Yay for progress! I’m so happy for you! You are making the most out of your situation and are doing everything you can to stay active and happy. I call that a WIN.

    One of my goals this year was to try and run at least 100 miles a month…and so far so good. Let’s see if I can keep it going for another seven months!
