We do summer buttcation right

Who’s doing the Friday dance with me? It’s been a long but fun week but I’m ready to hang with my boys and the Lu. It’s her last weekend here so we are going to have to eat ice cream and sour gummy worms for dinner to celebrate a great summer buttcation.

I got my PT session in early and it was gorgeous for us girls to get out of the house, so we put the top down and drove along the coast. We made lots of stops, climb rocks, snapped pics, outran/hobbled rogue waves, well I did, Lu took one for the team, and took in the salty sunshiny air.

We saw a pair of dolphins swimming along the shoreline which was super cool! Two sea lions even stopped to pose for us.

I have a thing for waves splashing against rocks, so we found my new favorite place for the perfect nature show. We climbed some rocks then sat and waited. The next 4 shots were taken consecutively without any editing.

Mike Googled how to make a gif and made this.

And I made this video for you.

Pebble Beach, CA

I can’t wait to get back into pool running. Working a couple days and having a headache for 3 days sucked the life out of me. Though I bet taking 12 Advil within 24 hours was not the brightest idea I’ve ever had. Anyway I am beyond ready to get my workout on!

Has anyone tried pool running? What do you think?

What are 5 things you plan to do this weekend?

Anyone on vacation or going on one? Tell me all about it.

  1. Pool running yes. Then I found the Alter-G. This weekend, trail run, niece bday party, second #RunEatTweetAZ meetup, track @smushtush on her 100, and the wifey wants to watch Sex Tape. Vacay? More like Racecay next week. Trying to see logistically how I can sneak 5 hours to Monterey Bay. #kiddingnotkidding

      • Saturday. There’s a shake out run and then I have to make a couple of appearances at the expo. I’m cutting it close. It looks like 2 hours there, 1 hour to kill and 2 back. If I can manage it, I’ll DM you on FB. #crossingmyfingers

  2. Gorgeous area!! I would love it. I have a question on pool running…how deep of water do you get in to pool run? Thanks and have a great weekend. Jenny

  3. I looked through all your gorgeous pictures and then went *SIGH* I haven’t seen anything that beautiful in ages.

But then I googled Ryan Gosling and everything was good again.

    Happy weekend!

  4. Well my runcation starts next Thursday. I’m headed out for the San Francisco half (registered for the full but my tendonitis kinda messed up my training so I’m dropping back). So excited for the left coast. I love it there. Last July I drove from sf to la with a stop in Monterey and another in pismo. You are very lucky to call that heaven home 🙂

Going on date number 5 tomorrow and hoping it continues progressing. Never thought I would be dating at 40 but it’s finally fun (took a while to meet someone normal. Lol. Oh and he runs…score!)

Hope your pt is helping. I could watch waves splash on rocks all day too. 🙂

  5. I’ve never pool run but since I’ve been reading about your experiences, I want to try! I’m running a half marathon on Sunday but that’s the only weekend fun I have scheduled…the rest is boring thesis stuff and work. I am planning to eat froyo after the race…and that’s pretty fun. I really want to convince my husband to move to CA! It looks perfect.

  6. I broke my ankle back in high school and after surgery jumped into the pool for some pool running. It got me in the best shape of my life – especially considering I was non-weight bearing and couldn’t do anything else. If you work hard and do it right, it’s an awesome workout!!!
