Sophistication is just a dream

Mike and I are not pretentious. At all.

We are also not very traditional. Basically we do what we want.

One morning Mike enthusiastically told me about an idea he had to build a reclaimed wood wall. I have been dreaming of a Starbucks style home for years, so of course I was down. Then he threw out the idea of hanging artwork of our favorite movies.

Movies we quote to each other all.the.time. For example: M – I have a meeting at work today. J – You have a meeting with the Bobs? M – Yeah, I hope they don’t ask for my TPS reports.

After we got the wall put together and the artwork framed, we were hesitant to cover up the wall that has so much character. Then one day I came home from work to see Mike hung the the Bob’s over the fireplace. I loved it, but the OCD in me did not like that is wasn’t completely centered.

Boy, that escalated quickly. I mean that really got out of hand fast.

Just so the world knows, Mike won an argument. Don’t ever let that boy tell you otherwise. Winking smile

It was funny, taking these prints to get framed. All the people are getting nice pictures of their dead great grandfather or newspaper clippings of an obituary done, then there was us, with these.

I am loving how our Starbucks home is coming together with a touch of us.

What are your favorite movie quotes?

How is your home decorated?

If you could redecorate it, what would you do?

  1. That is too cute! It’s making your house so YOU. I was about to say that I rarely quote movies and then I thought for a second and that would have been a lie! I always quote Elf, Anchorman, Zoolander, and Dodgeball. Really showing my classiness there. 🙂 My home isn’t completely decorated yet, but we are taking it room by room. We have a craftsman style home, but I really don’t know how to classify the decor. Part rustic, part modern, mostly Target??

  2. Ok, here’s the ones that I use regularly…like it just comes out in conversation…and other 1 timers. I’ll give you just 10.

    1. “You’re killing me smalls!” – whenever I get annoyed
    2. “This one time at band camp…” – whenever someone starts with, “this one time”.
    3. “The price is wrong bitch!” – this one when I’m shopping and I can’t afford it. I whisper this one though depending where I ame
    4. “There’s no crying in baseball” – whenever someone is whining. But, I interchange baseball with the appropriate subject
    5. “I have nipples greg, can you milk me?” – ok, i don’t use this often. Only to my kids when they bust out the cereal box and pour it into the bowl only to find out there’s no milk
    6. “You eat sh!t for breakfast?!” – ok, don’t hardly use this one either, but it cracks me up!
    7. “A lot of people go to college for seven years.” – this one is common for me when talking to adults who’s kids decide to take the 10 year college plan
    8. “You’re my boy, Blue!” – used when someone goes for it. Obviously, not everyone is named Blue
    9. “Did we just become best friends?” – for my freinemies
    10. “So you’re saying there’s a chance?!” – for whenever there’s a 1 in a million chance…duh

  3. My home decorating style is a modern country chic…LOL. I want an electric fireplace to add a bit more coziness. I love your prints and how you guys are taking your time adding your own personal style to the place!

  4. My kids are great at funny movie quotes. Although I find myself quoting then laughing at it alone. I’ll find my next husband based on his funny movie quotability.

5.!!!!!! I still need to go back and read Mike’s post about the reclaimed wood. We are doing a wall of recycled granite pieces in our house right now. We have the pieces and are waiting for the new mantle before we can start the project. You can check out the concept here

“Baxter you know I don’t speak Spanish!!!!!”

  6. Those are absolutely awesome. My wife and I are the same way. She told me that soon she’s going to buy the “Patron Saints of Pop Culture” posters for her office and our living room 🙂
