I meet all of my friends on social media and I’m not sorry ’bout it

I usually take Sundays off from blogging, but one thing I love is you guys! Folks who read and support this dumb ole blog. Readers like Robin and Cathy.

Today is Cathy’s Birthday and she is planning to run 50 half marathons by her 50th Birthday next year. So far she has completed 38 and her dream is to run Bir Sur for #50. Wahoo!

Happy Birthday Cathy!!

When you come to Monterey I hope to meet you + Robin for a coffee date so we can be real life friends. Deal?

Since we are on the subject of readers {really you guys are a bunch of weirdos for reading this} I finally had the honor of meeting Marilyn for a trail run yesterday. Ā We have been social media friends for a couple months so it was really nice to finally meet her. She is in town to run the Big Sur half as I type this.

Bam made sure to show her around our favorite trail. Knucklehead tried to lead us into the pond, but we didn’t fall for it. Punk.

Turns out we have a lot in common. She was born + raised in Monterey, loves running + coffee and has a Jack Russell, Chopper. Meeting Chopper is on my bucket list. He is the cutest little guy ever. Go see super cute pics of him + stalk Marilyn here.

After our trail run/hike we met up with Heather at Starbucks for iced coffee. She just smashed the Marine Corps marathon a couple weeks ago. Her love and dedication for running is incredibly inspiring.

Why yes, I do in fact meet all of my friends on social media now. #iamokaywiththis

In other random news, some other friends gave this Bam Biere to Mike. How freaking cool is this!?

Oh and Bam says hi. He’s giving me the evil eye because he is over our ‘bitches get stitches’ jokes.

  1. I’ve met a few friends on social media, but would love to meet more! There are quite a few ladies and gents on the interwebz who keep me lol’ing all day long and it would be nice to put an actual face to their pictures and posts!

  2. I’ve never met anyone through social media. I tried to join a “meet up” once in Vegas and there were no people there at the said time and it was a good excuse to bail. I’m a total introvert. I also turn the big 4-0 on Thankgiving next week. Not too excited about that birthday.

    • I totally get the introvert thing. You might not guess it, but I am very much the same. Major props for you at least giving it a shot. PS I think 40 is going to be so fun!! Embrace it. šŸ™‚

  3. I haven’t met anyone through social media but as I get more involved in the blog world I would love to meet friends and my fave bloggers. My Grandma turned 80 at the beginning of the month, she is such a rockstar but lives so far away! : ( – My third wedding anniversary is on Wednesday!

    • Keep connecting with folks with common interests with you. It’s kind of a random thing, but when you meet them it’s really fun. Happy anniversary!

  4. I actually met two bloggers this year at the SD Rock and Roll Marathon. I almost felt like i was meeting long lost friends. Of course they knew nothing about me but that is besides the point. šŸ™‚ Hopefully now that I have a blog I can meet more people.

  5. It takes a whole lot to get something by me so when Robin insisted I read your post today at brunch, I was absolutely floored! And, yes, there were tears! Thank you so much for my birthday wishes. It means so much to me that you took the time to write this post and that Robin arranged this awesome surprise! She is my biggest cheerleader and partner in crime when it comes to my crazy running dreams. I can’t wait to run #50 with her and have coffee with you both!

  6. Best surprise ever! I wish I could’ve got a picture of her face as she read it!

  7. I love that you meet your friends through social media. I’ve “met” so many cool people through social media that I would have never “met” before, so I completely understand!

  8. Great way to meet new friends in new cities that you call “home”. šŸ˜‰ Efficient way to recruit (pool) running buddies, too!
